Majestic Light
Almost a year of visioning and designing came together with joy, ease and a deep sense of knowing, with the first session of Majestic Light. Nine women of color (nine is the number of completion), representing four decades of age, diversity of profession, backgrounds and ways of being; entered into the sacred space that had been created.
The theme "living a healthy and congruent life at the core of our being - body, spirit, emotions, mind" seemed natural, for these are stressful times we live in, but they don't have to be. I looked at my close friend and Circle partner and smiled, as the sound of the first doorbell rang. We were ready!
With a backdrop of organic and natural, slowing down, and taking the time to be present with whatever showed up, we began with a healthy breakfast and then prepared to enter ritual space. You could hear the soft buzz of souls unfamiliar with each other begin to slowly waltz together, ever so gently with curiosity and hope, as we would be together for a year of Personal Development & Coaching. Each woman came forth, looked deep within her own eyes, and said "YES" to this precious time that she had claimed as her own.
We stood around the altar, giving thanks to GOD, to the elements, our ancestors, our families and each experience that had brought us to this moment. Over the day, we continued to loosen our exterior persona, falling into the arms of our beloved hearts - captivated by truth, deep listening, silence, reflection, tears, laughter and music, that pranced in and out of our Circle, often unexpectedly.
On day two, we began to tell our stories. AH, the magic of storytelling, so sweet, tender and cleansing. So refreshing, like a sip of cool water on a hot day! And as each women held the stone "Miracle" the miracles of her life fell from her lips, as a certain vulnerability that you can feel when you are safe and only then, emerged.
I had to remind myself to take some deep breaths, a couple of times, because right before my eyes it was happening - we were becoming a Circle of trust; a place to embrace our total self, whole and complete, and it was palpable.
As the lyrics rang out from the Clarke Sisters, "I'm looking for a miracle, I expect the impossible, just believe and receive it, GOD will provide it today"...we finished, or should I say, we paused until next session. And from the glance of eyes beaming brightly, it was clear we had been awakened by a light deep within us, that is always waiting to be rediscovered, for it is majestic!
My home beamed with the energy of the weekend, as the last woman walked out the door. I became quiet, filled with emotion and gratitude and took it all in. Everything that I had come to be in service for to human kind, I had just realized. There was not one criticism or "wish I would have", that appeared in my being. I was at total peace, so very grateful, realizing that in creating this space for others, I had also found my own Majestic Light. The words of Parker Palmer resounded in my soul, for the precious gift of Sacred Circle and being witnessed and held once again.
"The journey toward inner truth is too taxing to be made solo;
lacking support, the solitary traveler soon becomes weary, fearful
and is likely to quit the road. Instead, a circle of trust holds us in
a space where we can make our own discernment, in our own time,
in the encouraging.. presence of people."
